Owner Yvette Mikho has always been an amazing business woman. In her home country of Iraq, she was a top jewelry designer and catered to the socialites of the Baghdad. After immigrating to the United States in 1990, she decided to open an alterations shop in Ann Arbor. After gaining extensive experience in fitting, altering and customizing bridal gowns at her alterations shop, Mrs. Mikho transformed her business and opened her own bridal shop and continued catering to brides by offering couture bridal designs and expert alterations. Yvette Mikho has turned over the day-to-day operations of the bridal shop to her daughter, Nadine Hana (Marketing Director), and her daughter-in-law, Rasha Mikho (Boutique Manager). Mrs. Mikho continues to overlook the business while diving back into her original passion of jewelry design. She is currently designing custom jewelry for exclusive clientele in Dubai, where she now resides. Meet the Business Owner:
Yvette M. Yvette Mikho began her career as a couture jewelry designer in Iraq. She started making jewelry for herself at a young age as had a big passion for pearls, semi precious stones and antique pieces of gold. Gradually her passion turned to a business as people around her expressed their interest in buying her work. Yvette’s biggest inspiration was The Nimrud Treasure as she came to see a few pieces when she visited the Iraqi Museum in Baghdad during the late seventies. She noticed they were using gold with coral, lapez, onyx, and other semi precious stones. From that point forward, she started to design jewelry with the same theme, using gold pieces with unique and beautiful stones. You can see Mrs. Mikho’s designes at www.yvettemikho.com.
